Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Released: September 29, 2011
Rate: 4/5 stars
Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.
When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
When I heard there was a companion novel To Anna and the French Kiss, I was so excited. I wanted to read another book from Stephanie's writing. So when I got this book I was super excited. I liked this book. Although I did like Anna and the French Kiss better, this book was still good. I loved the setting of the book, in San Francisco. In Perkins' writing she does a reall fantastic job with the setting in both of her books.
Now let's get on to the plot. I thought the plot wasn't as like a roller coaster like in Anna. But I still loved the plot and story line. Characters. Lola. She was a very unique character, and that's what I loved about her. She was very creative. Cricket. He was the typical boy next door type of guy, hence the name of the book. But i really liked him. Definitley swoon worthy. Awesome characters. Supporting characters were great too. I loved how Etitnne, and Anna were in this one and played a role in it. I really liked to see there relationship grow.
Clearly I really enjoyed this book, and it was a awesome read. I would definetley check this one out, and also if you haven't read Anna and the French Kiss, read the one too. I cannot wait until the third companion book comes out. I love Stephanie's writing.
