Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Released: January 3, 2012
Publisher: HarperCollins
Pages: 376
Rate: 5/5

Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

My Review:

WOW! I don't know why I didn't read this book earlier! So I bought this book quite a while ago and I never actually picked it up until now. And I truly regret that because this book was fantastic! I think part of the reason why I didn't I pick it up sooner is because I don't think the synopsis does the book enough justice, the synopsis to me in my opinion was a little..well... confusing, there were some things I just didn't understand that were in the inside flap which essentially turned me off. But that's beside the point! But the book has been getting mixed reviews because people don't know whether it is a Sci-Fi or Dystopian, and I think its both because dystopian has something to do with corrupt government, and I think that the book some what talks about that.

Story TIME! This plot was so unique I just can't even put it into words! But I'm going to try. Basically Aria grew up in Reverie, and that is underground, and they can see realms and stuff that actually isnt real but it feels like it. Aria is really cultured and really doesn't know whats going on in the "outside world" but the story is really fascinating and just AWESOME!

CHARACTERS!!!!
SO this is the first for me but I like every single character in this book! LOVED to be exact! Even the "villains" were great. So lets talk about Aria. She is the best main character! You really feel for her in the book and what's she's going through! Aria is the ultimate Kick Ass character! She had her vulnerable parts which that's one of the best parts of the book but also she can be really fierce. Perry. Peregrine. Per. I loved him. He was just so... I don't know cool... he was put as the "outsider" "savage" and these are all names Aria calls him because he is from the outside, or the "death shop". But he was a angry, fierce, loving character and I really Loved him! Then there's Roar. He is literally up there as my favorite character, with all the main characters in this book! He was just so sweet, and helpful to Aria and Perry, he was just a awesome friend. He really anted to help Aria even though she was a Dweller, he didn't care, and by the end of the book I loved him even more! All the characters in this book were Fanatasitc and written so well! I just want to take a moment to praise Veronica for this fantastic book! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . WELL DONE VERONICA ROSSI! I can not wait for the next book to come out!
All in all, fantastic book. And I reccomend this book to everyone!

5/5 BLAZING STARS!

The Thing About The Truth by Lauren Barnholdt

Released: July 10, 2012
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages: 304
Rate: 4/5

In this humorous love story from the author of Two-Way Street, an unlikely romance is the best sort of surprise—but the wrong secret can ruin everything. Kelsey’s not going to let one mistake ruin her life. Sure, she got kicked out of prep school and all her old friends are shutting her out. But Kelsey’s focused on her future, and she’s determined to get back on track at Concordia High.

Isaac’s been kicked out of more schools than he can count. Since his father’s a state senator, Isaac’s life is under constant scrutiny—but Concordia High’s his last stop before boarding school, so Isaac’s hoping to fly under the radar and try to stay put for a change.

When Kelsey and Isaac meet, it’s anything but love at first sight. She thinks he’s an entitled brat, and he thinks she’s a stuck-up snob. So it surprises them both when they start to fall for each other. Kelsey’s happy for the first time in months, and Isaac’s never felt this way about anyone before...But nothing’s ever completely perfect. Everyone has secrets, and Isaac and Kelsey are no exceptions. These two may have fallen hard, but there’s one thing that can ruin it all: the truth.

My Review:
I read this book in the length of one day! I have been really in the mood for contemporary book for the summer time. I have read quite a few books of Lauren's and I really enjoy reading her writing style!

Now back to the book, to start off with the plot. I really enjoyed the story line in this book. It may be a little predictable but that is not the premise of the book we already know that the two main characters Kelsey, and Isaac, fall in love with each other, that's in the synopsis. But I really liked is the book states the no relationships are perfect and the lies can get in the way of them.

Character time! Well I thought the characters were kind of average, there was nothing too different about these characters. Kelsey basically wants to start fresh at this new school, she doesn't want anyone to get in the way of her schoolwork and activities. Isaac just wants to be normal, I think he really doesn't want to stand out too much and that he wants to be treated like everyone else. But Isaac does truly want everyone to like him. SO when Kelsey doesn't take any interest in him at first, it really "irks" him. These two characters don't really like each other, but they bond over things that they don't share with others , which makes there relationship different.

Essentially by the title "The Thing About The Truth" there are some lies being told in this book, we also see this from reading the synopsis. The lies in the book I think in my opinion were minor, and I thought they would be heartbreaking likes, that essentially docked down a star in my grading scale, I think maybe they could have been more ... I don't know how to put it but maybe more realistic.. I don't know, But I guess that's what you get with a smaller contemp. book.

All together I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I recommend it to everyone!

I give it
4/5 stars
